PRIMERA LINEA
"Primera línea" is a common term in Spanish real estate ads, used to describe properties that are located on the first line facing the sea. This highly sought-after location often results in an increase in the property's value and popularity among holidaymakers, as a sea view is one of the most desirable and heavily advertised features of vacation homes.
Through my photographic series, I aim to explore the impact of consumer culture symbols on our perception of the ideal lifestyle, as well as how they shape the physical environment we inhabit. Specifically, I seek to examine how the desire for a sea view contributes to urban densification in Calp, coastal resort city in Spain, resulting in towering buildings that form a labyrinth, creating a divide between man and nature. This reflects the irony of how our yearning for the sea has led us to construct a concrete jungle, rather than the idyllic natural oasis we envisioned.
